ABOUT US

ABOUT US:
North Brooklyn Cats, Bushwick Street Cats and Big City Little Kitty (also known as Lisa, Shawn, Eva, Chris, Jeannie and Stephanie) rescue cats and kittens in NYC. We take cats and kittens from NYC Animal Care and Control's euthanasia ("kill") list and perform Trap - Neuter - Release (TNR) for community cats, taking in friendly cats and kittens along the way. We foster these cats and kittens in our own homes until we find them safe, loving forever homes. We are not an organization or official group, but a group of friends that work on our own and often together to rescue cats and kittens from needless suffering and death row. Our efforts aim to reduce the suffering of cats and kittens in NYC by rescuing those in need, spaying/neutering to help to reduce the number of cats born on the street and advocating for their rights. See our "WHAT WE DO" page to see what we do and how we do it!

We take in sick cats that need medical attention, neo-natal kittens ("bottle babies") who've somehow lost their mothers and need to be fed every few hours around the clock, injured cats, cats that just need a little love (socialization) and sweet cats that just need a home. We wish we could save them all, but our homes only have so much room and our pockets are only so full.

Fostering and performing TNR can be costly. We receive some donations along the way, but mostly we cover expenses out of our own pockets. Occasionally we have a bake sale and each year we team up with Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale to raise funds to help with our expenses. Expenses include, but are not limited to; vet care (exams, vaccinations, spay/neuter, testing, evaluations, treatments), transportation (its NYC, we don't have cars), food, kitten formula, medicine, litter, medical supplies, surgeries, and the list goes on.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP:
It's a lot of work, but its well worth the effort. If you like what we do, please come support us at one of our bake sales, or make a donation:

All proceeds from bake sales and donations are divided up equally between us. In addition, Lisa, who focuses mainly on bottle babies, has created a wish list to help with supplies. You can order them right off her amazon wish list and they will go directly to the kittens she is nursing in her home. We also have a group wish list.
You can also help by fostering cats and kittens in your own home (the most fun way to help;).
